The Israeli Air Force (IAF) attacked Hamas targets overnight between Wednesday and Thursday in response to a Hamas shooting at the city of Sderot on Wednesday, as well as several shooting incidents at IDF soldiers along the Gaza-Israel security fence earlier in the day.

The IDF Spokesman’s Unit confirmed that IAF jets attacked four targets in a military compound and three targets in a weapons manufacturing facility in the northern Gaza Strip.

“The IDF holds Hamas responsible for everything that happens inside the Gaza Strip and emanating from it, and it will bear the consequences for the acts of terror carried out from Gaza against the citizens and sovereignty of Israel,” the army said, and added that the military will continue to fulfill its mission of protecting state security and a sense of security for the residents of Israel.

The military also predicted that the violent confrontations along the Israel-Gaza border would cease, and would accordingly reduce the number of  IDF forces in the area and to remove soldiers from nearby civilian communities. Residents of the Gaza Belt region were briefed on the move, and the Sha’ar Hanegev regional council said that the area operating normally and there are no special instructions, including for agricultural activities adjacent to the border fence.
