Los Angeles, CA – A 6 year-old Los Angeles boy, Dylan Siegel, who attends Stephen S. Wise Temple Elementary School has written a book titled “Chocolate Bar” which has raised a stunning $750K to fund research to find a cure for his best friend, 7 year-old Jonah Pournazarian, who suffers from a rare liver disease.

ABCLOCALGO.com reports that the title of the book, “Chocolate Bar,” is what the two best friends refer to something they both think is “cool.”

Jonah is one of about 500 kids globally who suffers from Glycogen Storage Disease Type-1b, which means he must be tube-fed prescribed measures of water and cornstarch every few hours.

A Florida doctor, who has a cure within sight, was on the verge of having to shut down his research due to lack of funding when Dylan decided in 2012 during school’s Mitzvah Day to write “Chocolate Bar” to see if he could raise money to help.

Dylan’s book has since raised about $750K, with sales and donations having poured in from all 50 states and 42 countries around the world.

Dylan’s book money, along with money from a fund established by Jonah’s parents and donations made through Facebook and other social media outlets totalling about $750K, have the Florida doctor, David Weinstein, thrilled and predicting a cure in the very near future.

“It is now reality. It’s not just a dream that these children can be cured,” said Dr.Weinstein.

When asked what he and Jonah plan to be doing 10-15 years down the road, Dylan said, “Um, high school and probably his disease would be cured.”
