The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), with the support of the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (AFIPO), will debut the first of 10 chamber music concerts this Sunday, August 23, 2020. These virtual events will feature the IPO’s world-class musicians, performing some of the world’s greatest chamber music works in the intimate setting of Charles Bronfman Auditorium. At a moment when concerts are indefinitely halted and audiences around the world crave transformative musical experiences more than ever, the Israel Philharmonic’s Chamber Music Series offers a uniquely inspiring solution.

The inaugural event will include a performance of Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A major performed by the following IPO musicians: Clarinetist Ron Selka; Violinists Saida Bar-Lev and Sivann Maayani; Violist Amir van der Hal; and Cellist Emanuele Silvestri. Before the performance begins, Ron Selka will give the audience a brief overview of the piece, including its significance and why it was chosen for this event.

The IPO’s Chamber Music Series will capture and highlight ensemble performances by musicians from the Orchestra through state-of-the-art production and video recording. The events will be broadcast at the same time (11 AM PDT / 2 PM EDT) every Sunday for the next 10 weeks. Each video in the series and will be completely free to access and available to view by all.
