Suspect In Custody For LA Jewish Schools & Vehicles Spray-Painting Spree

Los Angeles (VINnews) — A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of being the man behind a string of vandalism incidents in West LA and Calabasas. The incidents included spray-painting three Jewish schools this week in West Los Angeles, as well as dozens of vehicles.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Israel Herrera Perez. Perez was taken into custody by Los Angeles police on Thursday, on suspicion of vandalizing three Jewish schools along the 15000 block of Mulholland Drive, along with several cars in that area.

He is also being accused of spray-painting and slashing the tires of several cars in the Calabasas area, including some at an Audi dealership.

According to police, all the incidents took place between December 14th and Deecember 16th.

The arrest comes during a time when other Jewish areas in LA have been under attack. As previously reported by VIN news, the Nessah Synagogue in Beverly Hills was broken into and ransacked on Saturday December 14.

The suspect in that incident has been arrested, and identified as 24-year-old Anton Nathaniel Redding of Pennsylvania.

As of yet, police have not linked the two suspects to each other in any way.

Charges for Perez have not yet been announced.
