Calling all middle school and high school pianists!
Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust is proud to introduce its inaugural Young Pianist Showcase with the City-wide Read of the acclaimed book The Children of Willesden Lane by Mona Golabek and Lee Cohen.
Los Angeles County middle and high school students who play piano and are interested in community engagement and performance are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to serve as Musical Ambassadors on behalf of Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH).
To participate in the Showcase, students must respond to two essay questions and prepare one of three pre-selected repertoire pieces.
Students will compete for the following:
- Recognition as a Musical Ambassador of LAMOTH, and performance for thousands of Los Angeles students during the City-wide Read of The Children of Willesden Lane.
- Meeting with acclaimed pianist, author and actress Mona Golabek.
- A private Master Class with prominent L.A. based pianist, Dr. Tali Tadmor.
- Performance in a piano recital to take place at LAMOTH on November 23, 2014. This event is open to the public and will utilize the Museum’s historic Blüthner piano.
- Signed copies of the book and CD of The Children of Willesden Lane.
- Educational Scholarships.
There is NO application fee! Participation in LAMOTH’s Young Pianist Showcase is free of charge and open to all California middle and high school students.
