Last year the Knesset was awarded the “Green Globe” award by environmental NGOs.

Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein welcomed the delegation, saying “We realized that Green Knesset offered an opportunity to cooperate with other parliaments.”

“It shows that we do not just talk – we do,” Edelstein stressed. MK David Amsalem from the Likud party added that the building produces almost no waste at all, while also utilizing green energy and recycled water.

EU Ambassador to Israel Lars Faaborg-Andersen, who headed the delegation, told Edelstein, “The European Union is deeply concerned about climate change and its impacts. It is a major threat to our common future, to shared prosperity, security and stability.”

The Hungarian Ambassador to Israel Andor Nagy praised the project, adding, “You put Israel on the map of sustainability.”
