Beverly Hills and Israel Sign Historic Partnership Agreement

Israeli-American Council (IAC) Lauds New Wave of Cooperation in California

Beverly Hills, CA – Yesterday, the Beverly Hills City Council and the State of Israel signed an historic agreement establishing a formal partnership to promote cooperation, mutual understanding, and friendship. The agreement was formally signed during a ceremony at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, which took place as part of a fundraising Gala for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

“We are committed to bringing the best of Israel to Beverly Hills to help confront the drought, enhance cyber security, and share best practices and technologies related to public safety,” said David Siegel, Consul General of Israel in the United State’s Pacific Southwest. “We enter into this partnership realizing that we can make a difference in addressing common challenges like water conservation, cyber security, and public safety.”

Following the Joint Declaration, the City of Beverly Hills and the State of Israel will hold discussions and information exchanges to promote joint initiatives. The partnership will strengthen the Beverly Hills – Herzliya Sister City program; encourage joint task forces, trade delegations, and professional exchanges; and enhance collaboration between educational and cultural institutions.

“The IAC applauds Beverly Hills for seizing the opportunity to deepen its partnership with Israel, unleashing the country’s vast potential to improve life in Southern California,” said Adam Milstein, National Chairman of the Israeli-American Council (IAC). “As a nexus between the U.S. and Israel, the IAC is thrilled to see the state and local governments in California take the lead in creating bilateral agreements. We hope to see similar partnerships with Israel developed throughout the United States.”

The agreement with Beverly Hills comes in the wake of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the State of California and the State of Israel last year, which was developed to advance collaboration in seven areas by facilitating intergovernmental working groups, sister-city relationships, and exchanges between academics, citizens, and policymakers.
