A bus with 50 IDF soldiers onboard overturned in the Binyamin region between the communities, Rimonim and Kochav Hashachar, at around noon on Thrursday, November 26.

The civilian bus was in military service, transporting IDF soldiers from a military base to Jerusalem when the accident occurred. A female IDF soldier was trapped and died of her wounds. She was identified as corporal Stav Partush, 19 years old, from Maale Adumim, who served in the Israeli Air Force. Her family was notified, said an IDF spokesperson.

Approximately 40 of the other passengers were injured with varying degrees of intensity, and another six were trapped. They were transported to various hospitals in Israel to receive medical treatment, some by helicopter and some by ambulance. Three are in serious condition while the rest have sustained light wounds.

“This was a bullet-proof bus that overturned at the side of the road with over 30 passengers who were injured,” said ZAKA Jerusalem commander and veteran volunteer, Benzi Oring.

“A young woman was killed at the site, several others were seriously wounded and the remaining passengers were lightly injured,” he continued. “We arrived at the scene of the crash; a military helicopter evacuated the seriously wounded to the hospital and a team of ZAKA volunteers are working to clear the site of human remains after dealing with the body of the crash victim.”

“The cause of the accident is still under investigation,” said Oring.

Deputy head of the Binyamin Regional Council, Yisrael Ganz, offered his condolences to the Partush family. “The regional council sends its wishes for a quick recovery for the wounded and condolences to the bereaved family.”
