From the mighty Rocky Mountains to the luscious greens of the tropics, our world is quite a sight to see. Capturing these treasures, ostensibly a simple task, is in fact a difficult mission requiring much effort. The students of Cheder Menachem of Los Angeles had the unique opportunity to compete in a statewide competition that explores the world in which we live in and appreciate the wonders of Hashem.
Our school wide competition has led to the only Los Angeles county student qualifying to compete in the state finals, located in Fresno, California. Each teacher, student, and administrator, is extremely proud of Ashie Denebeim’s efforts and accomplishments.
As arrangements were being made for Ashie to attend the statewide National Geography Bee, his father, Rabbi Yonason Denebeim, a Chabad emissary in Palm Springs called his colleague, the local chabad rabbi in Fresno, Rabbi Zirkind.
Rabbi Zirkind was ecstatic to hear, as Chabad of Fresno is connected to the National Geography Bee in more ways than one. Sean Boyd, the National Geographic coordinator in Fresno, attends the local Chabad, where Rabbi Zirkind is the practicing Rabbi. Mr. Boyd noted to Rabbi Zirkind how incredible it is, how the only qualifying student from Los Angeles County attends Cheder Menachem of Los Angeles.
