Movement says antisemitism “has become systemic” at City University of New York, as shown by commencement speech targeting Jews and Israel.

The EndJewHatred movement declared a “State of Emergency” on Jew-hatred at the City University of New York (CUNY) and will host a rally today (Wednesday) outside the CUNY Chancellor’s Office. The rally will be held at 5 pm New York time.

“Jew-hatred has become systemic within the CUNY system, and nowhere is it more blatant than at the Law School, where for the second year in a row, the commencement speaker engaged in a hate-filled rant targeting the Jewish people. This year, even the CUNY Chancellor recognized that commencement speaker Fatima Mohammed’s speech was “hate speech,”” the movement said in a press release.

The #EndJewHatred movement is calling for the following actions to be taken by the Chancellor prior to the start of the next term in order to address systemic Jew-hatred at the Law School campus:

1. Terminate Dean Sudha Setty

2. Suspend, pending disciplinary action, any professor who endorsed or approved of Fatima Mohammed’s hate-filled rant targeting Jews

3. Implement mandatory antisemitism training

4. Apply and enforce the IHRA definition of antisemitism

5. Impose consequences for students and faculty who engage in Jew-hatred

6. Discontinue the practice of allowing students to select a commencement speaker

7. Advise the Character and Fitness Committee of any state to which students apply for a license to practice law if the student has endorsed antisemitic discrimination.

“At CUNY Law School, Jewish students have been traumatized to the point that they have become conditioned to accept oppression. Apart from the bigoted commencement speeches, students at the school voted with impunity to engage in illegal discrimination by adopting BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanctions targeting people based on their Jewish and Israeli identity). Even the faculty has voted to endorse this student resolution openly calling for illegal discrimination against Jews and Israelis.” the movement said.

“The #EndJewHatred movement is commencing a campaign to de-normalize Jew-hatred at CUNY. Wednesday’s protest is merely the first of many actions demanding social justice for the Jewish students, faculty, and staff at CUNY.”
