The school went into lockdown mode, sending a press release to FOX13 saying that they were in an “active shooter situation”.

“Dear MHA Family and Friends, Please, be advised that we are currently in a developing active shooter situation. We can confirm that no one has been hurt in any way, and everyone is now safe, thank G-d. Please look out for further communication with additional information to come. In the meantime, our campus is completely closed. We thank you for your understanding. May we all continue to merit Hashem’s protection,” the statement from Margolin Hebrew Academy Feinstone Yeshiva of the South read.

That alleged shooter was pulled over by police and jumped out of his pick-up truck brandishing a gun, according to the Memphis Police Department. He was shot by an officer.

All Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) were put on precautionary lockdown “while law enforcement investigates a situation unfolding across Shelby County”, the school district said. The lockdown was lifted shortly after 2:00 p.m.
