Help Make 10,000 Shidduchim

On Chol Hamoed Pesach, April 4th, newly engaged couple Yisroel Levin and Elisheva Kaplan were killed in a fiery car crash on the 878 highway beside Kennedy International airport in New York. How does one cope with such a tragedy when a parent is so excited about their child about to embark on a new and exciting life and instead, finds themselves mourning their untimely death?

For Rabbi Shaya Levin, Yisroel’s father, the answer is by ensuring that other new beginnings are started in their memory.

At the funeral of his son, Rabbi Shaya pleaded that in exchange for the pure souls of Yisroel and Elisheva, there should be 10,000 shidduchim as a gift from Heaven.

And so started 10K Batay Yisroel, an organization whose name links Yisroel, with the woman who would forever remain his kallah, Elisheva Basya, alluding to the home that will never be. It is the hope of this organization that as a result of this tragedy, there will be 10,000 new homes.
