The Israel Air Force (IAF) early Monday morning attacked several Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in response to a rocket fired from the Strip at Israeli communities earlier in the night.

At about 3:00 AM, Gazan terrorists fired a rocket toward the Hof Ashkelon area, a regional council of some 16,000 residents. The rocket was identified and intercepted by the IDF’s Iron Dome Aerial Defense System. No injuries or damage were caused by the attack.

In response to the rocket fired at Israel from Gaza, IAF fighter jets and a helicopter targeted a number of terror targets within Hamas’ military camp in northern Gaza, the IDF stated.

“We hold the Hamas terror organization accountable for all acts of terror emanating from the Gaza Strip,” the IDF added.

This IAF strike came just hours after it carried out another strike against Hamas targets in response to an explosive device tied to balloons that were launched from Gaza on Sunday and exploded in Israeli territory as a police sapper attempted to defuse it.

A week and a half ago, an IAF helicopter carried out a strike against a Hamas position in response to a rocket fired from Gaza into Israel.

This was the first rocket attack from Gaza that shattered some six weeks of relative quiet, before which Hamas fired hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilian targets, prompting the IAF to carry out a series of strikes against Hamas assets in the Strip, including against its TV station.
