IDF Changes Protocol for Fireworks Terror

IDF Changing Protocol: Israeli Security Forces Will Be Allowed to Open Fire in Response to Fireworks Terror

After months of increasingly common use of fireworks as weapons by terrorists, and in light of the vacuum that existed in the Israeli law in that regard, a new protocol was put into effect earlier today (Thursday) which now allows security forces to open fire if such use of fireworks poses a threat to their lives.

Until this change in protocol, forces dealing with rioters and terrorist using such a weapon were unable to properly react, as rules of engagement were very limited – according to the law, fireworks were not even defined as weapons. This prevented police from responding with the use

Fireworks have been used to attack police or army forces as well as residential houses in numerous locations. Exclusive video footage from Tazpit News Agency shows the firing of fireworks in the Old City in Jerusalem.
