IDF Finds M16 in Overnight Raid
The IDF conducted a series of overnight operations on Monday, January 11, which included the discovery of an M16 rifle and other military equipment.
During one of the operations, the IDF combat engineering branch mapped the home of the terrorist Ali Mahmad Akab Mahmad from the village of Jadeidi-Makr located east of Acre in northern Israel. Mahmad attempted to carry out a stabbing attack on January 9 at a checkpoint near the Etzion bloc junction.
In a separate operation, the military searched the offices of the illegal Hamas-linked organization “Kutla.” The soldiers found and seized material which the IDF Spokesperson’s Office said contained incitement with the intent to inflame tensions. Security personnel also found and confiscated a handgun and an M16 rifle along with ammunition and military equipment in a nearby area.
Israeli police last discovered military weapons in the Arab sector at the end of December, 2015 in a falafel shop in eastern Jerusalem. Police on the same day had also discovered a bag buried in a garden in Ras al-Amud containing six pipe bombs, two stun grenades, a Carl Gustav rifle, magazines and ammunition.
