Nahariya (TPS) – A potential terrorist attack was prevented on Monday evening, January 11, when Israeli police captured and apprehended a suspect in the northern city of Nahariya.

Israel Police received an alert at about 9:00 PM, according to which Fatma Azbarga, a 28-year-old Israeli Arab who lives in Jerusalem, was planning to very shortly carry out a terrorist attack. According to the police, she had quarrelled with her family before reaching the decision.

The police pinpointed her cellular phone to be at the area of Nahariya in northern Israel, and therefore started placing roadblocks in that area, inspecting passing vehicles in an effort to find her.

Azbarga, originally from the town of Taybeh, was soon found in a taxi in the city’s Trumpeldor neighborhood. She was immediately arrested and taken for questioning by Israeli security forces.

Following the arrest, the roadblocks were removed and the alertness level was set back to normal.
