Jerusalem (TPS) – A Jewish man was stabbed by a Palestinian terrorist Monday morning in Jerusalem, near the Damascus Gate. The victim, approximately 26 years old, fought off the attacker and sustained light wounds. The terrorist was arrested by police after a chase shortly after.

“When we arrived we immediately saw a young male, around 26 years old, fully conscious, with a bleeding injury in the upper body,” said Magen David Adom paramedic Aaron Adler from the scene of the attack on Hanevi’im St.

“(The victim) told us that he was walking down the street together with his family members when he was suddenly attacked and was injured while struggling with the terrorist,” continued Adler. “We provided him with initial medical treatment in the area and transported him to the hospital while he was in light and stable condition.”

According to a police spokesperson, police officers and border patrolmen who were stationed close to the nearby Damascus Gate approached the scene of the attack after hearing a commotion and spotted the suspect “stabbing a Jewish man.” Immediately thereafter, the victim attempted to flee.

“While he was fleeing, the terrorist dropped the knife,” the police spokesperson related. “The police carried out a short chase, caught the terrorist, took control of him and arrested him.”

The suspect, who is approximately 20 years old, was transferred over to the Jerusalem Police’s central unit. The victim is receiving further medical treatment at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
