LA ERUV TO CLOSE

LA Eruv To Close- Unless you help!

The LA Eruv has just sent out an urgent appeal to the entire Los Angeles Jewish Community regarding upcoming construction and expenses totaling at over $90,000. To donate please visit laeruv.com

Below you can read the Email sent out to the Jewish community regarding the dire situation:

The Los Angeles Community Eruv is scheduled to shut down next month because we do not have the financing needed to continue operating. We Need $90,000.

The Los Angeles Eruv is a community institution of which we can all be proud. Covering 100 square miles, with 40 miles of fences and lines and dozens of poles, adapters, walls and connectors it is the largest Mechitza based eruv in America. We have become the model for new eruvim and our eruv design and adaptations are being used in Eruvim around the country.

Unfortunately we find ourselves in danger of losing our eruv. There are five major construction projects which must be completed this year, two of which need to be completed in the next month or we risk potentially losing the ability to maintain the eruv completely. Our construction issues are:

1. The Eruv must be rerouted around the EXPO Train Line before the electricity is turned on
2. The Eruv must reconnect to the newly reconstructed 405 freeway
3. The Eruv must rework its walls in the Sepulveda and Caheunga Pass
4. The Eruv must replace the original poles and lines along its eastern border
5. The Eruv needs to move its southern and northern walls up onto newly installed sound walls.

The Eruv needs the community to raise $90,000 for construction and maintenance immediately. If rerouting does not take place in the next month and the electricity goes live on the expo line we may lose the eruv indefinitely. If we cannot raise the funds for both construction and maintenance, we will shut down checking until we can finish reconstruction and can finance restarting the Eruv.

The eruv is a community wide institution, which deserves community wide support. Together, we all request that you answer this community wide appeal and make a donation to the Los Angeles Community Eruv. You can give online at LAERUV.COM, or through your shul. The following Shuls will be running an online and in shul appeal this week.

Please step up and help.
