New Nefesh B’Nefesh center will help Jerusalem absorb more new immigrants, handle overwhelming interest in immigration, organization says.

Nefesh B’Nefesh has been officially granted by the Jerusalem Municipality a designated property to build a permanent Aliyah Center in the city’s National District (Kiryat Haleumi), opposite Israel’s Supreme Court.

The new center will enable the veteran aliyah (immigration to Israel) organization to expand their services, offer more cultural experiences, provide access to guidance, information, and employment opportunities for current olim (immigrants), and to meet the growing demand of aliyah interest.

The new Nefesh B’Nefesh Aliyah Center will not only serve as a destination within the State’s capital to help integrate all olim to Israel, it will also help Jerusalem successfully absorb and acclimate the large number of olim who are now looking to move to the city. This in turn will help attract even more olim to Jerusalem in the future and will have a positive long-lasting impact on Jerusalem’s economy, Nefesh B’Nefesh noted.

Jerusalem’s Mayor Moshe Lion said: “We have recently been heavily investing on encouraging aliyah to Jerusalem, while at the same time focusing on assisting the olim transition into their new lives in the city. Jerusalem is a city which encourages aliyah, largely due to the full range of services we provide to our olim. During the past few months since the COVID-19 outbreak, we have seen a significant increase in the amount of aliyah interest to Jerusalem, which we welcome deeply.”

“As a leading organization, Nefesh B’Nefesh will in the coming months have a permanent home in Jerusalem. I would also like to thank Tony Gelbart, Chairman of Nefesh B’Nefesh for the incredible assistance he gives to Jerusalem’s olim.”

“We are deeply appreciative to Jerusalem’s Mayor Moshe Lion and the city council, who have seen the immense value of aliyah for Jerusalem and for all of Israel, and recognized the need to establish a permanent home-base for Nefesh B’Nefesh in their city,” said Tony Gelbart, Co-Founder and Chairman of Nefesh B’Nefesh.

“As we witness the next exciting chapter of Jewish history unfold, we look forward to taking part in assisting Jews from all walks of life and all over the world to fulfill their dream and come home to Israel.”

“After eighteen years from our establishment, it is extremely emotional for me and the entire Nefesh B’Nefesh staff to build a home in Jerusalem which will help us increase our facilitation and integration of olim as well as expand our incredible relationship with the city,” said Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Nefesh B’Nefesh.

“We couldn’t think of a more opportune time, amidst today’s unprecedented increase in aliyah interest, to receive this incredible news which will help propel us to our next stage of development.”
