Netanyahu Alerts Foreign Leaders to PA Incitement

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a formal meeting with the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry during his visit to the Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland on Thursday, January 21.

According to the Israeli Government Press Office, the two held a very good meeting, during which Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed a range of regional issues including Syria, Iran, the Islamic State and the Palestinians.

On the Palestinian issue, Netanyahu showed Secretary Kerry a video clip that documented examples of Palestinian incitement.

The clip was created by the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs in order to show that Palestinian incitement – by the political leadership, the media and the education system – is a decisive factor in catalyzing the wave of Palestinian terrorism afflicting Israelis in the recent months.

“Incitement by Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman is contributing to the escalation of terrorism. The international community must insist and direct Chairman Abbas to stop spreading lies,” Netanyahu previously told Kerry in their last public meeting in Berlin in October 2015.

As recently as January 6, Abbas gave a public speech in Bethlehem in which he called Jews and Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria “a cancer within us, which will disappear one day, the same as it did in Gaza.”

“Riots will continue until the occupation ends. Violence and terror will not stop until our problems are solved,” added Abbas during his speech, which was attended by hundreds of Palestinians and directly televised to thousands more.

Netanyahu pursued the issue of PA incitement and terrorism during his visit to Davos and shared the footage with several other foreign ministers and leaders, including U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
