Pipe Bomb Attack Near IDF Outpost on Highway 60

Terror Attempts in Gush Etzion, Binyamin Region

Written by Andrew Friedman/TPS on November 14, 2016

Palestinians launched a flurry of attacks Monday at Jewish targets, both in Judea and Samaria and near the Gaza border.

In Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem, terrorists detonated a pipe bomb, apparently using remote technology, next to an IDF post overlooking the city of Bethlehem, adjacent to Route 60. A short while later, rocks were thrown at Israeli cars on the same stretch of road, and a Molotov cocktail was thrown at an Israeli car near Karmei Tzur, between Gush Etzion and Hebron. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Also Monday morning, Palestinians beat a driver and stole his car near the community of Karnei Shomron, east of Kfar Saba. The driver, a resident of Kfar Tapuach, was standing next to his car on the side of the road at the Karnei Shomron junction and told of how a red VW Golf driven by Palestinians stopped behind him and one of them went to sit beside him and threaten him. All the while, a second Palestinian got out from the Golf and came toward the driver’s door, pulled him forcefully from and hit him prior to fleeing. The driver was lightly wounded but did not require transport to the hospital, and the carjackers fled in the direction of Kalkiliya. IDF troops scoured the area, but as of this writing had not found the attackers.

Near Moshav Netiv Ha’asara, adjacent to the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian security forces detained an unarmed Palestinian who had crossed the border fence. The man was detained for questioning.
