Shabbat Security Alert

In light of the ongoing military conflict between Israel and Hamas and the related global security threat environment, after extensive conversations with senior law enforcement, intelligence, homeland security officials and consultation and coordination with the Secure Community Network (SCN), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is recommending that Jewish institutions increase their levels of vigilance at this time.

While we are not currently aware of any imminent or specific threat to the American Jewish community, given the escalation in violence in the Middle East, an increased level of violence and attacks against Jewish facilities across Europe, and the uptick of demonstrations and protests across the United States, it is prudent for Jewish community organizations to revisit and reassess their current security plans, measures and procedures.

There is a MAJOR anti-Israel / Pro-Palestine rally scheduled for 1:00pm this Saturday (08/02/14) at the Federal Building on Wilshire Blvd. L.A.

Things  to consider:

Recommendations:

o   Deterrence is better than confrontation.

o   Be aware of suspicious packages.

o   Be aware of bright green hats or clothing.

o   Review your trespassing policies and know that “for security” reasons, a person may be denied entrance and asked to leave.

o   Take photos of any suspicious behavior, vehicles, persons, actions, etc..

o   Avoid bringing attention to yourself and AVOID any altercation. Do not challenge or argue with anyone over photography. You have the right to photograph on public property.

o   Most cellular phones will ring to the local police department.

MOST IMPORTANT – BE VIGILANT !!!

Look around.   If you see something, say something !
