Two Female Terrorists Mistakenly Attack Arab Man in Jerusalem Market

Written by Michael Bachner/TPS on November 23, 2015

A stabbing attack took place in Jerusalem’s main open-air market, Mahane Yehuda on Monday morning, November 23.

Two female Palestinian terrorists, aged 14 and 16, used scissors to stab an elderly man at the entrance to the market at around 11:10 AM. They were neutralized by gun shots after attempting to stab more people.

The victim is a 70-year-old Christian Arab from the Hebron area. The terrorists mistakenly thought him to be an Israeli Jew. He suffered light wounds to his head.

A 27-year-old security guard was also hurt in his hand, from a police bullet that ricocheted. He was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital along with the elderly victim. Several onlookers suffered from shock.

Magen David Adom paramedic David Blumenfeld said: “When we arrived at the scene, a 70-year-old man was led to us. He was fully conscious with stab wounds in his upper body. We treated him and evacuated him to Hadassah Ein Kerem.”

Another MDA paramedic, Reem Naimi, said: “When we arrived we saw a 27-year-old young man who was walking while suffering from wounds in his hand. We gave him medical treatment and took him to hospital in light condition.”

The terrorists, two female teenagers from Qalandia, north of Jerusalem, were neutralized by police forces. One of them, identified as 16-year-old Hadeel Awad, was killed while the other one was very seriously wounded in her stomach and taken to Shaare Tzedek hospital to undergo surgery.

Shortly after the Jerusalem attack, a car ramming attack occurred in Samaria at around 12:00 PM. A Palestinian driver tried to run over a group of yeshiva students near the community of Homesh.

An 18-year-old yeshiva student was lightly injured and was transported, fully conscious, to the nearby town of Shavei Shomron for medical treatment. He was then transported to Beilinson hospital in Petach Tivka.

The terrorist fled the scene, and IDF forces are searching the area, placing roadblocks.
