Jerusalem, 14 November, 2021 (TPS) — Israeli Air Force (IAF) Commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin concluded on Sunday his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he was a guest at the Air Force Commanders Conference.
The conference was attended by Air Force commanders from around the world, including from Middle Eastern countries.
Norkin also visited the Dubai Air Show. Israel’s Ministry of Defense will open a national pavilion at the Dubai Air Show security exhibition and will head a delegation of Israeli defense industries, Israel’s first appearance in this venue.
This is the Air Force Commander’s first visit to the UAE.
“The visit is part of the deepening of the connection and cooperation between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates – as part of the Avraham agreements signed about a year ago,” the IDF stated.
The visit is a continuation of the visit by UAE Air Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Nasser Mohammed al Alawi to Israel for the Blue Flag exercise about two weeks ago.
Norkin also reportedly met with General Mohammad Fathi Hiyasat, a senior Jordanian Air Force commander.
“This visit indicates the continued development and strengthening of the relationship between the IDF and the foreign armies, at the national and strategic level, as well as an example of the growing cooperation between them in the Middle East,” the IDF said.
A bit more than a year after the signing of the Abraham Accords on the White House lawns on September 15, 2020, Israel and the UAE have signed multiple agreements in a broad spectrum of issues, and institutions from both countries have launched multi-faceted collaborations.
