Jerusalem, 18 August, 2022 (TPS) — In the latest activity of Israel’s ongoing anti-terror operation called “Breaking the Wave,” overnight security forces from the IDF, the Shin Bet and the Border Police operated throughout Judea and Samaria in areas covered by the IDF’s Bekaa and the Valleys regional division. 10 wanted persons were apprehended during the operation and no casualties were reported among Israeli forces.
The action was conducted in the villages of Aqabat Jabr, Faqqua, Deir el Atsun, Bayt Liqya, Shuqba, and in the Deheisha refugee camp.
The arrested wanted persons were transferred for further investigation by the security forces.
The forces also acted to close down institutions that work for the terrorist organization The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and its branches. This move was taken after Minister of Defense Benny Gantz on Wednesday certified the official designation of a number of PFLP affiliated groups as terrorist organizations.
Security forces closed seven such institutions and confiscated property belonging to the PFLP and its branches. During this activity, stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown at Israeli forces, who responded with appropriate measures to disperse the attackers.
Security forces also operated in the villages of Jeva and Araba in the area of the Menasha regional division where they arrested two wanted persons. During the action of forces in Kfar Jaba’, explosives were thrown at them gunshots were heard in the area, but no soldiers or police were wounded.
At the same time, security forces also operated in the villages of Dora and Bayt Awa in the area of the Yehuda regional division and arrested three more wanted persons.
The fighters also operated in the city of Qalqilya in the area of the Ephraim regional division and arrested two wanted persons there. During that operation, a violent disturbance developed in which dozens of Palestinians threw stones and shot fireworks at the forces, who responded with measures to disperse the demonstrations.
In addition, the IDF and the other security forces worked overnight to secure the coordinated entry of worshipers to the Yosef Tomb complex in the city of Nablus in the area of the Shomron regional division. During the operation, the forces fired at gunmen who fired at them first.
