The soldier who was killed Sunday morning in the terror attack at the Ariel Junction in Samaria is First Sergeant Gal Qeidan, a combat soldier in the 334th Battalion in the Artillery Corps.
The IDF announced that Qeidan, 19 from Be’er Sheva, was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant after his death. He will be laid to rest on Monday at the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva.
Another IDF soldier was seriously wounded by the shooting at the Gitai Avisar Junction during the second phase of the attack.
The terrorist stabbed Qeidan at the Ariel junction, stole his weapon, fired at civilians, got into a car he high jacked, drove to the Gitai Avisar Junction, and fired at Israelis at a bus station.
A civilian, Rabbi Achiad Etinger, was critically wounded in the attack at the Ariel Junction in Samaria.
Rabbi Etinger is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit and is in critical condition after being shot in the head.
Etinger, 47 from Eli, is the father of 12 children, one of whom serves in the elite Nahal Recon Unit.
He was shot while sitting in his car at the junction. He drew his weapon and was about to shoot at the terrorist when he was struck by the terrorist’s bullets.
IDF forces have launched a broad manhunt for the terrorist.
