An IDF soldier was killed in a training accident in the Golan Heights Wednesday, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.
20-year-old Sgt. Ido Ari of Ramat Hasharon died when the tank he was commanding overturned. Three other soldiers were lightly wounded and evacuated for medical treatment.
Following the accident, IDF Lieutenant Colonel Eyal Amir, head of the IDF Southern Command, ordered an investigation of the incident, to be headed by Col. Eran Shani. In addition, Lieutenant General Kobi Barak, commander of the IDF ground forces, said the army would not hold training exercises on Sunday in order to study the incident and derive lessons from it.
