‘HOW CHICK’N SOUP SAVED THE DAY’ IS AMONG FUN FLAVORS OF NEW, HAND COOKED LINE OF PREMIUM POTATO CHIPS FROM TEN ACRE SNACKS OF THE UK
GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE, VEGAN, NON-GMO, KOSHER AND PARVE;
From across the pond comes a range of tasty and uniquely flavored snacks hailing from the fictional land of Ten Acre Village (www.tenacresnacks.com).
The line of hand cooked crisps (us Yanks call them potato chips) with flavors like ‘The Day Sweet & Sour Became Friends’ and ‘When Hickory Got BBQ’D,’ is the brainchild of a Manchester, England company who set out to make premium chips that not only meet the ‘free from’, Vegan, Kosher and Non-GMO requirements, but are also fabulously crunchy and flavorful.
Jimmy, Ronen and Tony, the three partners in the business (respectively CTO, CFO, & CEO – in Ten Acre speak – Chief Tasting Officer, Chief Frying Officer and Chief Eating Officer) were inspired to launch their own line of chips because of the lack of availability of any truly premium and dietary sensitive potato chips in their area.
Today the company, Ten Acre, offers a line of premium crisps. At the helm is the flagship flavor ‘How Chick’n Soup Saved the Day,’ inspired by the adage that chicken soup is Jewish penicillin. Currently there are five flavors launching in the United States, with similarly humorous names and delicious tastes. A line of ‘handpicked’ popcorn (picked at famous Popcorn Orchards in Ten Acre Village, of course), already available in England, will soon be introduced in the U.S. According to whimsical Tony Goodman, “In Ten Acre, our Chick’n Soup crisps are made by chickens, not from chickens.”
All Ten Acre products are gluten and dairy free, and Non-GMO, and are also vegetarian, vegan, halal and certified kosher in the U.S. by both the (OU) as well as Rabbi Eckstein.
All are invited to visit the imaginary world of Ten Acre Village, where you can become a resident, see where the popcorn is made (at the popcorn orchard at Popperley House), and peruse the books at Ten Acre Village bookshop where The Amazing Adventures of Salt And Vinegar is most popular.
Says Tony Goodman, “The Ten Acre Village is just a fun and whimsical extension of our products, our British sense of humor, if you will. It’s meant for children of all ages, especially the ‘grown-ups’. ”
Seriously though, it’s actually our love of storytelling that brought about Ten Acre. We want to bring front and center the fun of storytelling and encourage story writing competitions. We currently have a literacy campaign in the UK, in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
Ten Acre Snacks are available in 1.4 oz packages and retail for $1.00 – $1.29 per bag, and 5.0 packages at $2.99 – $3.99 per bag, in varying flavors. They are available at kosher and gourmet stores throughout the U.S. and are distributed in the United States by Kayco, headquartered in Bayonne, NJ.
