Orthodox Jewish Chaplaincy Board Shakes Lulav & Esrog with prisoners
On Tuesday afternoon, the fourth day of Chol Hamoed Succos, members of the Orthodox Jewish Chaplaincy Board, led by Senior Chaplain Howard Winkler, visited nearly 100 Jewish Inmates throughout the LA County jail system.
One such group visited Men’s Central Jail and the adjacent Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Downtown Los Angeles. The Chaplains split into groups visiting and providing spiritual comfort to the Inmates.
In addition to the uplifting visit, the OJCB. in coordination with the Alef Institute arranged for a number of Lulavim & Esrogim be made available to the prisoners for daily blessing of the Lulav & Esrog even on days that the Chaplains couldn’t make it in person.
Chaplain Winkler and the OJCB chaplains works tirelessly on a daily basis to ensure that all of the Jewish prisoners religious needs are met. The Orthodox Jewish Chaplaincy Board (OJCB) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization supported by tax-deductible contributions. Siddurim, Chumoshim, Tehillim and all types of Hebrew/English reading materials are always needed but they must be soft cover and new. To contribute: Orthodox Jewish Chaplaincy Board, P.O.
