A shooting attack was perpetrated in Hebron on Sunday afternoon, January 3. An IDF soldier participating in an officer cadets’ tour was shot from a distance by a Palestinian sniper shortly after 2:00 PM while standing near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.
The gunfire moderately wounded a soldier’s pelvis and she was transported fully conscious to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. She was reported by the hospital to be in stable condition with no threat to her life.
The soldier was shot by a sniper from one of the roofs in the nearby Palestinian neighborhood of Abu Sneina. The shooter has not been caught, and IDF troops are preparing to enter the neighborhood to search for the perpetrator.
Magen David Adom medic Hanoch Zelinger said: “When we arrived, we saw a young woman about 19 years old, fully conscious and already treated by IDF medical forces who were close to the scene of the attack. She had a deep wound in her lower body. We put her on an ambulance and treated her wounds while transporting her to hospital.”
