Birthright Israel Expects Record Participation as
Summer 2016 Registration Opens with Addition of New Trip Options
NEW YORK, February 1, 2016 – Birthright Israel, the largest provider of educational trips in the world, announces that registration begins today for Summer 2016 sessions, which is expected to include record attendance with the introduction of new trip options in addition to the standard 10-day itinerary.
As of February 1st, applicants can register for trips running from May through September 2016 including Birthright Israel’s new academic trip, which allows students to earn up to three college credits during a 13-day Birthright Israel adventure. Birthright Israel Academic participants select from three courses provided by Tel Aviv University, Ben-Gurion University or IDC Herzliya. The official launch comes after a successful pilot this winter.
Additionally, Birthright Israel will offer an abridged seven-day trip that was created to accommodate students and young adults unable to take 10 days off from school or work. The condensed itinerary includes the same historical and cultural sites as the full trip, but at an accelerated pace.
Two new specialized trips are also available for the first time:
- Jews at Law for students looking to enter the legal field
- Innovation Nation for participants interested in Israel’s booming tech and start-up industries
The new trip options join an already diverse list of trip selections, which include programs focused on food, extreme sports, the arts, LGBTQ travelers and travelers with special needs.
“Our goal is to attract and accommodate all young Jewish adults who wish to travel to Israel and connect with their heritage,” said Birthright Israel CEO Gidi Mark. “With so many trip options to choose from, we expect to accommodate more participants than ever before.”
Over the last 16 years, Birthright Israel has provided free educational trips to Israel for more than 500,000 participants, with the goal of strengthening Jewish identity, facilitating cultural understanding and fostering solidarity with Israel and its people. Birthright Israel is open to young Jews worldwide between 18 and 26 years old.
