Jerusalem, 4 January, 2023 (TPS) — Israeli security forces arrested 12 Palestinian terror suspects in counterterror raids around Judea and Samaria on Tuesday night.
Ammunition and Israeli army uniforms were seized in the village of Shuweika, in Samaria. Two Palestinians were arrested.
Shots were fired on soldiers who returned fire in Qabatiya, near Jenin. One soldier was lightly injured. One of the Palestinians arrested tried to steal a soldier’s gun.
Soldiers arresting fugitives in the Jalazone refugee camp near Ramallah and the Ein el-Sultan refugee camp near Jericho used riot control measures to disperse crowds of Palestinians throwing rocks and burning tires. Both camps are administered by the United Nations.
In an ongoing sweep against terror in Judea and Samaria, the IDF has thwarted 500 terror attacks and arrested more than 2,500 suspects. Operation Wave Breaker was launched by the IDF following a surge of Palestinian terror attacks in the spring of 2022 which killed 19 people.
Overall, 31 people were killed in Palestinian terror attacks in 2022.
