ZOA to Congress: Vote Against Disastrous Iran Deal
Iranian Commander: U.S. Will Remain The Enemy
NEW YORK — The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has urged the U.S. Congress to vote against the impending Iranian nuclear deal which, according to all reports, will represent U.S. capitulation to Iran’s nuclear weapons program, will dismantle no part of the program, and will provide a path for an Iranian nuclear capability within 13 years or even less. The ZOA notes that, even now, a senior Iranian military commander has made it clear that this massively concessionary and disastrous nuclear deal with his own country would not result in Iran regarding America as anything other than an enemy.
Even if Iran abides by this impending agreement, Iran will obtain some $150 billion in unfrozen assets as well as tens of billions of dollars annually in sanctions relief. This will surely be used to increase funding of Iran’s long-standing campaigns of international Islamic terrorism, backing for proxies such as Syria’s Assad regime, the Shia Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, Shia forces in Yemen that recently toppled the pro-American regime there, and elsewhere across the globe. Hezbollah and Hamas are likely to get tens of thousands of new missiles and other armaments with which to attack Israel. This is a nightmare for America’s most loyal ally, Israel, as well as for America and the West.
Iranian Ground Force Commander, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, said that even if a nuclear deal comes to fruition in Vienna, where Iranian and Western negotiators are currently trying to reach an agreement by tomorrow, “The US might arrive at some agreements with us within the framework of the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany), but we should never hold a positive view over the enemy … our enmity with them is over the principles and is rooted because we are after the truth and nations’ freedom, but they seek exploiting nations and putting them in chains” (‘Iranian official: US will remain our enemy despite emerging nuclear deal,’ Jerusalem Post, July 6, 2015).
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “With this statement, it is clear that not only is this impending Iranian nuclear deal catastrophically flawed, as we have elaborated in detail on numerous occasions, but that Iran will not become the responsible peaceful regional power of which President Obama speaks.
“General Pourdastan’s statement is significant, because it indicates that Iran will not be acting in good faith, whatever deal is signed. An Iranian regime that unswervingly regards America as an enemy will not act in good faith, will not seek reconciliation with United States or act peaceably in the Middle East.
“Even if impending nuclear deal were a good one, it is clear from General Pourdestan’s statement that America and the world could not expect Iran to abide by it.
“Neville Chamberlain, whose armed forces were weak, signed the Munich agreement under the delusion that satisfying Nazi aims in Czechoslovakia would moderate Hitler and preserve the peace of Europe. But President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, with powerful armed forces, foolishly contend that, due to this agreement, Iran will relinquish its terrorist ways and become part of the civilized world.
“We strongly urge all Members of Congress to protect U.S. interests, Western interests and the interests of its most loyal ally Israel and oppose this catastrophic deal.”
