Jerusalem – Ariel terror attack victim Rabbi Ahiad Ettinger was memorialized again a week and a day after his death as a new baby was named after him, according to community members.

This is not just any child, but the grandson of a woman who Ettinger saved during the attack. During the incident, the terrorist aimed his weapon at the woman but switched his attention towards Ettinger when he saw the Rabbi, according to community members. A week and a day after Ettinger died, the Rabbi’s son, was given a coveted position during the ritual circumcision for new baby Ahiad.

Ettinger, the father of 12 children ranging in age from 1 to 22, died after being shot in the head in a terrorist attack. He had stopped to shoot at the terrorist as he was carrying out his attack, but the terrorist returned fire and mortally wounded him. Ettinger died from his wounds a day later.

Ettinger, 47, was the dean of the Oz V’Emunah hesder yeshiva – which combines Torah study with military service for young men – in south Tel Aviv.

“My father, you are a hero, a true hero. Until death, you were there for everyone; you were strong in mind and body and you used this for everyone,” Efrat, Ettinger’s daughter said during his funeral.
