This past week, the seventh and eighth-grade class from Cheder Menachem adapted their CIJE Engineering course to align with Chanukah.

The students had unique opportunity to see first-hand how they can create a design on a computer and with a 3D Printer bring their project to life.

The expressions on the boy’s faces when the Dreidles started spinning was not to be forgotten. They were in awe of what they could achieve

The Students were first presented with a power point presentation by CIJE mentor Dr. Adrian Krag, which explained the  process of how a circuit board draws power from the battery and with a push of a button is able to send power to the motor.

The student’s were provided with their own motor, circuit board, wires and 3D printed parts. The student’s had to place the motor in the 3D Printed shell casing and solder the circuit board to the motor. Each student created their very own Dreidel and spinner. The boy’s curiosity and excitement was palpable throughout the entire program.  “The expressions on the boy’s faces when the Dreidles started spinning was not to be forgotten. They were in awe of what they could achieve”  –Mrs. Sarah Goldstein

The CIJE Dreidel Project led by Mrs. Goldstein, is part of a STEM biomedical engineering program at the school, provided by the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) http://www.thecije.org.
