The COVID pandemic in Europe might still be serious enough this coming May and June that athletic events will have to be held without spectators.
Then there is a possibility that the UEFA Euro 2021, as well as several key games in the Champions League and European League, might be held in Israel, the president of the Israel Football Association Oren Hasson announced Sunday.
Hasson informed a meeting of the IFA board that he had spoken with UEFA President Aleksander ?eferin and other senior UEFA officials last week about the possibility of Israel hosting the matches.
According to an IFA press release, ?eferin thanked the IFA for its willingness to help and expressed admiration for Israel’s handling of the COVID pandemic, as well as its vaccination campaign.
He said he would consider the option of having Israel host the matches.
