Ezer Mizions What’s App:

What’s App from Uri

car-driving-man-city-46591018A SAD SURPRISE:
A little while ago, my friends in Gush Etzion invited me to join Ezer Mizion’s What’s App group called “Linked to Life.”
The objective of the group is to transport patients and medications on a route that you’re driving anyway. (And even if you have to go out of your way a few minutes to help someone out, no big deal.)
Yesterday a message was posted about a patient who needs a ride from the Oncology ward at Hadassah Ein Kerem to one of the Gush Etzion settlements. I looked at the time the patient needed the ride and saw that it coincided precisely with the end of my work day. I posted a response that I would be happy to do it.
On the way from work, I was in contact with the patient, whose voice sounded very familiar to me. When I got to Ein Kerem and saw her, I immediately identified her. She was one of my children’s teachers. I was choked with tears when she said to me: “You look familiar…” I told her that she had taught my daughter. It was so painful to me to see this good woman fighting for her life.
I learned from this trip how easy it is to help, and how we cannot take anything in life for granted, and how important it is to appreciate what we have. A speedy recovery to this dear teacher.

AN INTERNATIONAL HUMAN CHAIN:
On Wednesday afternoon, a friend of mine who lives in Belgium called and told me that a woman who uses a walker is currently visiting in Belgium and one of the wheels of her walker broke off and was lost. Since the walker is Israeli, they haven’t been able to find a matching wheel, and the cost of a new walker is very steep.

She sent me a photo of the wheel and I went with the photo to the Ezer Mizion Medical Equipment Loan Center workshop, where they found a wheel that looked right.
At this point, a message was posted on Ezer Mizion’s Linked to Life What’s App group in Belgium, seeking someone who could transport the wheel to its destination. In less than 24 hours, I already received a photo of the walker complete with both wheels. I was thrilled!

Running out of specialized baby formula available only in US? On the plane and realize left meds at home? Car breaks down on the way to treatment center? A moment of panic until you realize that, as a Jew, you are never alone. Ezer Mizion’s Linked to Life connects us all. A worldwide web of chessed.
