The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s exhibition, People, Book, Land – The 3,500 Year Relationship of the Jewish People to The Holy Land opened at United Nations headquarters in New York.

The exhibit is on display adjacent to the UN General Assembly, ensuring that diplomats from nearly 200 countries will view the 25 panel exhibition.

People, Book, Land first opened at UNESCO headquarters in Paris last year. The opening was delayed for six months following protests from UNESCO’s 22 Arab countries. The exhibit is curated by Hebrew University’s Professor Robert Wistrich, for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, in partnership with UNESCO. Israel, the US, and Canada, along with UNESCO, are sponsoring the exhibition at the UN.

“This exhibit is important, not just because of the exhibit itself, but because of what it means [for it] to be shown here, at the United Nations,” said US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power at the opening.
