An IDF aircraft attacked a car belonging to one of the leaders of the fire bomb kite units in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, near Kissufim. The attack was carried out in response to the recent instances of fire kites being sent across the border, resulting in crop fires in the Gaza Belt farmlands.
According to Palestinian reports, the car was empty and no one was injured in the attack.
In recent days, the IDF has warned Gazans not to launch fire kites at Israel, emphasizing that it is an act of terrorism that endangers residents of the Gaza Belt.
“The IDF is determined to continue to step up its actions against these acts of terrorism, using the various tools at its disposal,” the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement. “The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible for everything taking place in and emanating from the Gaza Strip,” the statement added.
Fires caused by flammable kites and helium balloons have set ablaze thousands of acres of farmland and forest land in southern Israel in recent weeks, causing millions of shekels in damages.
