IDF Soldier Killed in Friendly Fire Incident Identified

Jerusalem, 16 August, 2022 (TPS) — The IDF soldier killed in a friendly fire incident Monday night has been identified as First Sergeant Natan Fitoussi of the Kfir Brigade, a 20-year-old combat fighter from Netanya. The incident occurred near the Arab city of Tulkarm within the area of the Menasha regional division.

The IDF stated that the commander of the IDF Central Command, Major General Yehuda Fox and the commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brigadier General Avi Belot, completed a preliminary investigation at the point of the incident where First Sergeant Fitoussi was killed.

The IDF said that it carried out an investigation at the scene throughout the night and that the results of the investigation carried out by the military police will be forwarded to the military attorney’s office for examination.

General Fox:
“During operational activity tonight at the seam line (area along the pre-1967 border), an IDF soldier was accidentally killed by our forces. This is a very difficult and unfortunate event that should not have happened. I send my deepest condolences to the bereaved family, and strengthen all the soldiers and commanders involved in the incident.”
