Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has revealed that two of the faction’s members died following injuries sustained during a fire on Sunday.
The fire, which broke out west of Tehran Sunday night, was reported at an IRGC research facility.
“On Sunday evening a fire broke out in one of the IRGC … research centers in the west of Tehran. Three people were injured and the fire has been contained,” the country’s state TV announced.
The IRGC’s official statement called the complex a “research self-sufficiency center,” and some analysts speculate this could refer to a branch of the IRGC Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, which plays a role in the country’s weapons development.
