Jerusalem, 12 April, 2022 (TPS) — The IDF, Shin Bet security service, and other special units operated throughout Judea and Samaria Monday night and arrested 20 terror suspects in a number of areas, including the villages of Zeita, al-Yamun, Balata, al-Khader, Beit Kahil and Azzun Atama, following the wave of terror attacks in Israeli cities that claimed 14 lives in the past month.

Troops from the Commando Brigade conducted an extensive arrest operation in the village of Zeita in Samaria. The soldiers located weapons and arrested wanted persons suspected of aiding terrorist activities.

Simultaneously, troops from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit operated in the city of Jenin and nearby villages. During the operation, IDF soldiers fired at terrorists who threw explosives at them and at other terrorists identified in the area. There were no casualties to the Israeli forces. There are unconfirmed reports of casualties among the terrorists.

In addition, IDF soldiers arrested a suspect in the desecration of Yosef’s Tomb in Shechem (Nablus) on Saturday night, one of about 100 Muslims who stormed the holy site, vandalized it and set fire to it.

Israeli forces arrested another 20 suspects on Sunday and 14 on Monday.

Israel has experienced four severe terror attacks in recent weeks. On Thursday night, a terrorist from Jenin shot and killed three Israelis in the heart of Tel Aviv. Before that, a terrorist from Yabed shot and killed five people in the city of Bnei Brak. In the second attack, two Islamist terrorists shot and killed two Israelis in the city of Hadera. In Be’er Sheva, a terrorist stabbed and murdered four Israelis. Jerusalem has been the scene of several attacks as well.

The country’s security establishment is bracing for further violence, especially as Ramadan coincides with Passover, and following the first anniversary of Operation Guardian of the Walls in May 2021, which was launched by the IDF following a Hamas rocket attack on Jerusalem that began at the height of the Month of Ramadan.
