ISRAEL (VINnews) — A young Israeli man has miraculously been found alive in Jordan, after disappearing for two years.
Shalom Rotban, a Chabad man in his twenties from Kiryat Malachi, suffered post-traumatic-stress disorder (PTSD) after a rocket strike near his home in 2012 when he was a child.
Rotban went missing several times in the years following the strike, but then he disappeared without a trace in May 2021, leading his family to fear for his life.
The Israel Dog Unit (IDU) received word that Rotman had been located and quickly informed his family, who traveled to Jordan to embrace their son for the first time in two years.
“The excitement, the joy, the boundless tears when the son fell upon his mother’s neck are indescribable. She felt like she had been reborn,” the IDU told ‘Behadrei Charedim’.
They added, “From here we learn that there is always hope. We say this in every search for missing persons, even when a long time has passed since the day of their disappearance. We thank the Creator of the World for this great miracle.”
Mike Ben-Yaakov, commander of the IDU, said, “Only in the State of Israel is a civilian dog unit able to reach the President of the State at 1:30 in the morning to help a poor missing person. I wish that [IDU] would receive such help to rescue and save more missing persons from those in charge of the field of missing persons in the State of Israel. I hope that this case will affect many other missing persons cases, and that [the unit] receives the tools and recognition to reach out to many other missing people who can be located and saved.”
He continued, “The main thing: Shalom was found after years of searching and despair, and he will be able to celebrate the holiday of Matan Torah in the [company] of his family. A miracle of the Holiday of Matan Torah.”
