Man Apprehends Palestinian Carrying Knives Outside Kochav Yaakov
A Palestinian man carrying two knives and a Koran was arrested Thursday morning outside the settlement of Kochav Yaakov, south of Ramallah, after his behavior aroused the suspicions of an off-duty firefighter.
“I was on my way home when I saw a young man with a bag who aroused my suspicions. I drove up to him and asked some questions. He didn’t looked right at me and begin to shout “Palestine Palestine” and ran,” said the firefighter, Gal Muati. “I ran after him for 150 meters, I was armed and told him to get down on his knees. Another civilian who arrived on the scene shouted that he had knives in his bag. We jumped on him and and held him until the police arrived.”
The man told police that he had planned to hand the bag over to another person who would then carry out a terror attack. The man was taken in for further questioning by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).

The firefighter called the police who dispatched a Special Patrol Unit. Together with the firefighter they apprehended the Palestinian man who had concealed two knives in his bag and was also carrying a Koran.
The man told police that he had planned to hand the bag over to another person who would then carry out a terror attack. The man was taken in for further questioning by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).
