Jerusalem, 21 February, 2022 (TPS) — Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met on Monday with an AIPAC-organized delegation of republican members of the US Congress, led by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

The meeting came a week after Bennett and other Israeli cabinet ministers met with a delegation of democratic American members of Congress who were led by Speak of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi of California.

Prime Minister Bennett discussed a range of issues with the delegation regarding his diplomatic and security outlook including regional issues, especially the renewed nuclear talks currently going on in Vienna.

Just a day ago the Prime Minister declared that any new agreement that might be made between the world powers and Iran as to its nuclear weapons program will be bad for the safety and security of the world.

Speaking on Sunday at the beginning of a Cabinet meeting, Bennett stated that the talks between Iran and the major powers on a return to a nuclear agreement “are advancing quickly. We may see an agreement shortly. The new apparent agreement is shorter and weaker than the previous one.”

And on Sunday night, Bennett made some very strong comments on the Iranian nuclear threat when speaking to members of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem. “Let me be clear,” Bennett told those present, “Israel won’t accept Iran as a nuclear threshold state. We have a clear and un-negotiable red line: Israel will always maintain its freedom of action to defend itself.”

To the Republican Congressional delegation Naftali Bennett emphasized the importance of the dialogue between the government in Israel and both sides of the political map in the US. He also thanked the members of the delegation for their strong support of Israel.
