“RABBI SHALOM DENBO APPOINTED TO MIGDAL OHR POSITION”

Rabbi Shalom Denbo has joined The American Friends of Migdal Ohr (AFMO) as its West Coast Development Coordinator. The announcement was made by Norman B. Gildin, Executive Vice President, AFMO. The appointment is effective immediately.

Rabbi Denbo will establish the first office for AFMO outside of New York and will work with AFMO’s existing leadership in Los Angeles. “I am looking forward to collaborating with our West Coast lay leadership to raise essential funds for AFMO and to help raise awareness about the great programs taking place throughout Israel under the auspices of Migdal Ohr,” said Rabbi Denbo.

Rabbi Denbo comes with a wealth of experience, having spent the last eighteen years working in the greater Jewish Community. After focusing on his Jewish studies in Jerusalem for seven years at Yeshiva Aish HaTorah, Rabbi Denbo joined the Los Angeles branch. During his time at Aish, he established a unique partnership between Aish and the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity—the only remaining Jewish Fraternity—to offer Jewish education and leadership programming for the benefit of their undergraduate membership, in addition to creating the Fraternity’s official Israel trip.

Rabbi Denbo also is the Director of KLAL, an educational leadership institute. Most recently he published a book entitled 7 TRAITS: How To Change Your World.

Mr. Gildin lauded Rabbi Denbo for his commitment to Jewish values and principles. “Rabbi Denbo has quietly developed a reputation for excellence in his work and I know that he brings to AFMO the embodiment of what we need. He has a heartfelt compassion for children and understands how they are positively impacted by Migdal Ohr.” Concluded Mr. Gildin, “We welcome him to the Migdal Ohr family.”

Said Rabbi Denbo, “At Aish we were taught and instilled with the ideal that we are each responsible for the Jewish People. Migdal Ohr’s Founder, Rabbi Grossman, is the quintessence of that ideal. What he has created with Migdal Ohr is astounding and it is a privilege and honor to be a part of that.”

Rabbi Denbo lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Nechama, and their seven children.

Founded over 43 years ago, Migdal Ohr (Tower of Light) serves nearly 12,000 Jewish children and young adults across Israel annually, through its 160 youth clubs and three main education campuses. Providing free, essential services including education, housing, clothing and food, medical care and counseling to at-risk youth, Migdal Ohr is dedicated to making a difference in the future of Israel.
