PM to convene War Cabinet, Political-Security Cabinet, and Cabinet tonight to approve deal to free dozens of Hamas hostages.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to convene the War Cabinet, the Political-Security Cabinet, and the Cabinet this evening (Tuesday) amidst reports that a deal to free dozens of hostages from Hamas captivity is imminent.
As part of the deal, the government will vote to approve the release of terrorists from Israeli prisons.
The War Cabinet will convene first at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Political-Security Cabinet at 7:00 p.m. and the Cabinet will convene at 8:00 p.m.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu met with IDF troops in the south, where he stated that “we are advancing” toward a deal to free the hostages. “I don’t think I should say too much, even now, but I hope we have good news soon.”
Netanyahu reiterated that “the elimination of Hamas” remains Israel’s goal in the war which began with the massacre of over 1,200 people on October 7.
About 240 people were taken hostage during the massacre and have been illegally held in Gaza for over a month and a half. The deal being negotiated would reportedly free 50-80 hostages, all women and children, in exchange for the release of hundreds of terrorists in Israeli prisons and a three-five day pause in the fighting in Gaza.
