Tense Shabbat on Gaza Border
The IDF has carried out several air and land attacks on Hamas targets in Gaza during the course of Shabbat. IAF aircraft bombed Hamas infrastructures, and IDF tanks shelled a Hamas border outpost.
The attacks were in response to a rocket attack on Israel. Earlier this morning, a rocket launched from northern Gaza landed in an open field in the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council. No damage or casualties were caused, but air raid sirens went off, briefly disturbing what should have been a restful Shabbat morning.
The IDF Spokesperson said two Hamas targets were destroyed during the attacks.
Israeli sources said the believe the rocket was fired by a rogue Salafist group, not Hamas. Israel’s policy is to hold Hamas responsible for whatever happens in Gaza.
