WESTCHESTER (VINnews) — In a most tragic incident, two Orthodox Jewish men were killed after their plane went down in Armonk, NY.
The plane was occupied by Boruch Taub and Binyamin Chafetz, both residents of Cleveland. They were both tragically killed when their plane crashed into trees not far from Westchester airport.
The single engine Beechcraft plane took off from JFK at 4:58 p.m. heading to Richmond Heights, Ohio.
According to reports, the plane was rented by the men in order to fly to a Levaya.
According to county police spokesman Kieran O’Leary, the pilot alerted air-traffic controllers that he had a warning light for low oil pressure at 5:25 p.m. and he was advised to go to Westchester County Airport. A report suggested that the plane suffered engine failure.
Westchester Airport lost radio contact with him at 5:30 p.m. and the plane disappeared from radar.

O’Leary said the search began almost immediately in the airport vicinity and over the Connecticut border into Greenwich. Since the area around the airport is heavily wooded, foot searches were underway and drones were deployed.
The search eventually currently narrowed down to a heavily wooded area in the rear of an office building on King St (Rt120) in Armonk. Some time later, the plane and the occupants were located.
