UK Couple Who Named Baby After Hitler Sentenced To Jail For Being In Neo-Nazi Group

The British couple who named their child after Adolf Hitler has been sentenced for more than 10 years combined in jail for being part of a banned neo-Nazi group in Britain.

Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, were convicted last month in a Birmingham Crown Court of being members of a banned terrorist group, the BBC reported Tuesday.

Thomas received a six-and-a-half-year sentence and Patatas received a five-year sentence.

Judge Melbourne Inman QC said National Action’s aims were “the overthrow of democracy in this country by serious violence and murder and the imposition of a Nazi-style state that would eradicate whole sections of society by such violence and mass murder.”

The jury was shown pictures of Thomas wearing Ku Klux Klan robes while cradling his newborn baby, who was given the middle name Adolf in “admiration” of Hitler, the BBC reported.

The judge criticized the couple for preaching their neo-Nazi ideology to their son.

“You acted together in all you thought, said and did, in the naming of your son and the disturbing photographs of your child, surrounded by symbols of Nazism and the Ku Klux Klan,” the judge said.

A search of the couple’s home in Banbury uncovered machetes and crossbows, one of which was near the baby’s crib, and Nazi paraphernalia including a cookie cutter shaped like a swastika.

Thomas was also found guilty of having a copy of terrorist manual “The Anarchist Cookbook,” the BBC reported.

Thomas and Patatas were sentenced alongside four others in connection with the group.
